ASSAM, INDIA: Het Hunwal-theeplantage ligt in het district Jorhat van de Indiase regio Assam, ten zuiden van de Brahmaputra-rivier. Een groot deel van de Assam-regio ligt op een hoogte van 1000-4000 ft. boven zeeniveau, wat de regio koelere dan gemiddelde temperaturen geeft in vergelijking met andere regio's van India. Deze koele temperaturen, samen met hoge regenval, bevorderen de ontwikkeling van zeer rijke, sterke kwaliteiten in de zwarte theebladeren.
