JAPANESE SENCHA GREEN TEA:

Try this particularly fine green tea with a grassy and vegetal taste. Since sencha is grown in full sunlight, it contrasts to matcha and gyokuro which are mainly grown in the shade.

JAPAN:

Our Japanese Sencha green tea is grown in the Kagoshima prefecture of Japan. The weather conditions there are ideal for growing both tea and fruit. Kagoshima is the 2nd largest tea producing region in Japan and has recently obtained recognition for its growth and processing of high grade green teas.

I usually drink matcha, so I wasn't sure how the full-sun grown thing would taste, but this sencha is a completely different experience — lighter and more savory. Steeping it at a lower temp keeps it from going bitter, which took me a cup or two to figure out.

The grassy, vegetal flavor is exactly what I look for in a sencha, and it brews up clean without any bitterness. Only reason it's not five stars is that the leaves are a bit finer than I'd like, so my strainer clogs if I'm not careful.
