ファーストフラッシュは特に繊細で花のような風味があります。加工されたファーストフラッシュの茶葉は濃い色をしているべきですが、緑がかった、つまり発酵が不完全な葉が混ざっていることもあります。良質なファーストフラッシュの水色は、薄い金色から琥珀色、そして黄金がかった緑色まで様々です。
I order this every spring and the muscatel notes in the first flush are what keep me coming back. It's lighter than the second flush but has this bright, almost floral finish that's perfect for mornings. Steeping it around 3 minutes brings out the best in it.
The first flush really does live up to the champagne comparison, light and floral with almost no bitterness. I brewed it at 90°C for three minutes and the muscatel notes came through clean. Ordered the wholesale size for my office and it's gone in two weeks.
I was expecting something bitter and got the opposite — this first flush is so light and floral it almost drinks like a white tea. The muscatel note comes through around the second steep, which surprised me for the price. Genuinely the smoothest Darjeeling I've had in a while.
